why we keep using brass plates

placeholder post. brass is three times the price of aluminium for a plate, adds about 180g to a 60%, and tarnishes if you look at it wrong.

we keep using it because it flexes less than aluminium at the same thickness and because the sound is duller — less of the high ring that a thin alloy plate adds to every keypress.
